Just stick with me for a second though, you might get an idea you haven’t thought of before ; )

I’ve been coaching a lot of people over the past few of months, and I’m starting to see some frequent, what I consider to be- critical, mistakes taking place,
mainly due to the lack of comprehensive information out there on how to properly grow a network marketing business online.

For some reason, people are OBSESSED about getting traffic to their site, but they have un-targeted websites that don’t convert AND aren’t monetized
appropriately.

So….. what is my point?

Well, if you want to succeed on the internet- you must absorb one very critical point:

All the web traffic in possible doesn’t matter if you don’t have a marketing funnel that’s focusing on a specific niche AND that is structured in such a way that
you actually creat cashflow for your business…

(That’s the point of this whole exercise, right?!?)

I wanted to be precise about some of the errors that I’ve seen repeatedly, in the hopes that if you’re making any of these mistakes- you can recognize them,
and fix it!

FATAL MISTAKE #1

Thinking that you’re “Marketing Online” When You Have NO CLUE Who Your Target Audience is…or you are Just targeting “Network Marketers”

The truth of the matter is that “Network Marketers” or even “Online Network Marketers” is too general of a focus…you must be far more targeted than that! Not
only must you be focused, you need to think about the problems that your target market is having AND provide remedies to those problems.

FATAL MISTAKE #2:

Thinking about releasing a product when you don’t have an e-mail subscriber list.

Okay, so I am going have to be a little blunt here…

spending time thinking about getting visitors to your site when you don’t have a monetized, targeted funnel is about as insane as worrying about “launching a
product” when you don’t have a list…it’s an exercise in futility!

You need people who are interested in buying from YOU, in order to release your own product . So you need an e-mail subscriber base. You can’t get a
LIST until you have a TARGET MARKET and a SALES FUNNEL.

Do you see how all of this stuff really all ties together? Hopefully you do!

FATAL MISTAKE #3
Driving Traffic & Providing Value, But Forgetting About, Ummm…Leads

You know, I’ve been amazed at the number of blogs I’ve seen that are really “nice-looking”, and have super content….but place to capture leads.

WHAT?!? Leads are the name of the game, right?

Or I see people who just have a capture form that says “Sign Up for My Newsletter”

If you get as many e-mails as I do, you probably realize that most people are going to have to be offered something of value in exchange for them being
willing to take on more e-mails.

Make sure you offer people something of value, to encourage them to opt-in to your newsletter.

BUT, getting them onto your list, is only half of the battle… if you are peppering them with pitch after pitch, they’re going to opt-out of your list in a hurry!

So you need to follow up with your list, through your auto-responder, by striving to give awesome content. That being said…. you also need to make sure that
you do actually SELL to your subscribers too! Just make sure that you’ve got a good balance between useful information and marketing.

FATAL MISTAKE #4
Complaining about not earning money on the Internet, but having a website/blog without any place for a propsect to buy from you EVEN IF THEY WANTED
TO!

Simple, right?!? You’d be shocked to learn how many people have a site without a single place for people to buy from them!

I get that you want to give value and not appear to salesy. As someone who hates to be sold and hates to sell, I totally feel your dilemma!

BUT…

The truth is, we aren’t running a non-profit. So, unless you’re willing to work for nothing, you’ve got to get paid for your value somehow.

Whether that’s a portion of your site where visitors can have the opportunity to work with you in your network marketing business, or one of your favorite
products or even a group of your favorite products in a “Recommended Resources” page on your site… you need a way for visitors to give you some dough
in exchange for your valuable content!

BUT…don’t go nuts selling everything under the sun…see Fatal Mistake #6 below

FATAL MISTAKE #5
Claiming to be an leader in “attraction marketing” when you only have a replicated website that isn’t even personalized OR haven’t even generated any
leads or sales for your business.

You know from my article “The Truth About You Inc” (or if you haven’t seen it- go check it out on Better Networker) that I am a big believer in the value beginner’s can
offer to the marketplace.

With that having been said- you should be realistic and honest about the value that you offer.

The ol’ fake it ’til you make it may have worked in the past, but probably won’t fly these days. That’s because you’re building a house on a bed of sand…you
might makes some sales in the beginning, but when people find out- your number’s up…

FATAL MISTAKE #6
Spamming Your Company Website Across Every Form Of Social Media, And Then Whining That “Internet Marketing” Doesn’t Work.

I’ve come to the conclusion that much this issue stems from one of the strengths of network marketing (that your education and experience level don’t
predetermine your ability to succeed) which in reality is actually a disadvantage online.

Stay with me on this one… ; )

You see, since the Internet is LOADED with information…loads of products, tons of services, tons of people, to actually EARN MONEY on the Internet, you’re
going to have to know how to actually “market” you and your business.

You see, a lot of people don’t have the experience that my husband and I have (I’ve got a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising, and Rich was an Ad
Agency Executive for 14 years).

In fact, most people coming online have NO marketing experience whatsoever.

And to be honest, you’re going to need to understand basic principles of marketing if you’re going to start generating some cashflow on the Internet. (Like
figuring out a target market, etc)

Not to worry, there are plenty of products that you can get, that can teach you what you must know- but you just have to realize that you’re going to have to
learn some new things if you want to become an online network marketer that makes money.

With that being said, just spamming the link to your opportunity isn’t a viable way to promote your product or service online.

Neither is, “friending” someone on Facebook, and then sending them a message with a link to your website trying to promote your business or, asking
someone about their business and then shredding their product and compensation plan and telling them about your product/comp plan falls into this
category too.

Why?

You lose credibility, and like I said in my article (“Climbing the Ladder of Success”) reputation is everything in this industry!

If you plan on trying to build your business by spamming, you’ve got a short shelf-life in this industry.

Sorry if this comes across as rude, sometimes it takes a little tough to get a point across and you might as well find out the truth, so you can focus your
efforts on more productive responsibilities.

FATAL MISTAKE #7
Jumping From Product To Product Hoping That Someone Will Give You The Magic Bullet For Succeeding On The Internet.

Here’s the thing- there isn’t a magic bullet to becoming a successful internet network marketer, but there’s one thing that pretty much anyone who’s ever
made substantial money on the Internet has done….

Hire a coach that an teach you how they become successful OR find a team in a business opportunity that can teach you how to market your business
successfully using the Internet.

To be honest, there are many pieces to the puzzle of successfully marketing online, and I have yet to see a SINGLE product on the market today that shows
you everything that it takes to even get started on the right path.

There are different tools and products that can help you with specific parts of setting up your sales funnel, blog or lauching a product – but you really need a
bluepring to get started correctly.

I don’t meansome generic blueprint (which is better than nothing, by the way)- but instead one that’s created based on your skills, primary business and
target market. That’s why I believe that hiring a coach may be the most important decision that a person can make to help grow their Internet business
successfully.
